Taller MGL is a young Mexican architecture practice founded in 2024 by Maite Garcia-Lascurain
The studio emerged from a dual condition, embodied in its symbol ° ° : two coordinates, two poles, and an ongoing conversation between them. On the one hand, Mexico and London, two cultural contexts that shape the way we observe and design. On the other, practice and academia, understood not as separate fields but as disciplines that continuously question and enrich one another.
It is precisely within this in-between territory, a space of translation, negotiation and experimentation, that the identity of the studio takes shape. The practice develops in close dialogue with academia and the visual arts, understanding architecture as a collective discipline, open to the exchange of knowledge and in constant evolution.
The studio's work has been recognised through awards, exhibitions and publications, both in Mexico and internationally.

WHAT WE DO
For retail, private and public clients.
We design buildings, spaces, objects and research projects with a strong spatial and material sensibility, always grounded in context and guided by a rigorous attention to process. Our aim is to create thoughtful, enduring work with a distinct identity.
DESIGN AND PROJECT SUPERVISION
We carry projects from their initial concept through technical development, site supervision and construction. Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors, we translate complex ideas into clear, well-resolved architecture.
RESEARCH
We understand research, teaching and cultural production as a natural extension of architectural practice. Through workshops, courses, publications and academic programmes, we bring questions emerging from built work into spaces of collective reflection, whose insights, in turn, feed back into the practice.
Maite Garcia-Lascurain is a Mexican architect and educator who graduated with Commendation from the Architectural Association (AA School) in London.
She is the founder and director of Taller MGL. Before establishing her independent practice, she worked with the studios of Mauricio Rocha and Carlos Zedillo (PienZa Sostenible), contributing to projects across a range of scales and programmes.
She currently teaches in the design studio at Universidad Iberoamericana, has been a visiting professor at CENTRO, and is co-director, alongside Naso Vargas, of the Architectural Association School of Architecture Summer School in Latin America.
During 2024, she was a fellow of the Young Creators program by SACPC (System of Support for Cultural Creation and Projects, by the Mexican Secretariat of Culture) with the project 'Crónicas Periféricas', which is currently being developed as a doctoral thesis. Chronicles of the periphery, mismo que se continúa desarrollando a la par de la práctica profesional como una tesis doctoral.
